2004 - UNESCO - Bardejov Town Reserve - Proof The town of Bardejov, administrative and cultural centre of the upper
Saris region, is located in the north-east part of Slovakia. The ancient
royal borough offers a wealth of historic sights and is one of the most
valuable urban complexes in Slovakia. The secular and ecclesiastical
buildings giving the town a medieval appearance were built in the heyday
of the town in the 14th and 15th centuries. The most valuable building
is the historic Church of St. Egidius. Its eleven Gothic altars with
panel paintings forming the altar wings are unique in the world. Worth
of attention is the historic square bordered by Gothic and Renaissance
town houses and the town hall from the beginning of the 16th century.
The Gothic fortification is one of the best-preserved bulwarks within
the European context. In 2000, the historic town centre including the
well-preserved buildings of the Jewish synagogue and ritual baths was
inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List. In the middle of the
obverse of the coin the main architectural features of the Bardejov town
square the Church of St. Egidius and the town hall are
depicted. Above the buildings the state shield is placed. The name of
the state SLOVENSKA REPUBLIKA appears along the upper edge of the coin
and the nominal value 200 SLOVENSKYCH KORUN is given on the bottom of
the coin. To the left of the church tower is the mark of the Kremnica
Mint and below it the stylised initials of the designer Jan Cernaj. In
the middle of the reverse of the coin an ancient plan of the town with
medieval fortification is depicted, together with the town?s coat of
arms to its right. The inscription SVETOVE DEDICSTVO UNESCO (UNESCO
WORLD HERITAGE) is placed along the upper edge of the coin, below
appears the coinage date 2004. At the lower edge of the coin the town?s
name BARDEJOV is inscribed. Each proof coin is encapsulated and is
presented in a hard-covered display case. Accompanying the coin is a
certificate of authenticity showing all of the coin's technical
specifications.

2004 - 200th Ann. Wolfgang Kempelen - Proof
Wolfgang
Kempelen (1734-1804) - inventor, engineer, technician and pioneer in the
area of phonetics - was one of the leading scholars of his time. He held
various important official posts in Austria-Hungary, becoming the
secretary and later also the councillor of the Royal Hungarian Chamber
in Bratislava. He used his extraordinary scientific and technical
abilities to create complex machines and equipment. He constructed a
fountain in the park of Schönbrunn Palace in Vienna, created a system
for drawing water for Bratislava Castle, built irrigation facilities in
the area of Zitny Ostrov near Bratislava, modernized the technical
equipment of salt mines and made a writing machine for the blind. He was
especially famous for the automatic chess machine of 1770 and later also
an automatic speaking machine, which attracted the general public and
became world famous attractions. He also published a pioneering
scientific work about the mechanism of human speech, in which he dealt
with the origin of speech, and the anatomy and physiology of the speech
organs. Kempelen´s most famous invention the chess machine,
complemented with illustrations from his scientific works, is located in
the center of the obverse of the coin. The state shield is on the right
margin and the nominal value is on the left margin of the coin. The name
of the state SLOVENSKA REPUBLIKA in two lines and under it the year of
issue - 2004 are found on the bottom. The portrait of Wolfgang Kempelen
above the skyline of Bratislava the city where Kempelen was born
and which is closely connected with his life and work, is depicted on
the reverse. The years of his birth and death 1734 and 1804 are
located to the right of the portrait and his name WOLFGANG KEMPELEN is
located to the left. The initials of the designer of the coin Miroslav
Ronai MR and the mark of the Kremnica Mint MR are placed under the
Bratislava skyline. Each proof coin is encapsulated and is presented in
a hard-covered display case. Accompanying the coin is a certificate of
authenticity showing all of the coin's technical specifications.

- Slovakia Accession to the EU - Proof
The European
Union is the result of the European integration process, which began
after World War II. The European Community for Coal and Steel (1951),
The European Community for Nuclear Energy and the European Economic
Community (1957) were the forerunners of the EU. The founding countries
: Belgium, France, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Germany and Italy were
gradually joined by Denmark, Ireland, Great Britain, Spain and Portugal.
Finland, Austria and Sweden joined the EU after its establishment. The
title European Union was adopted in February 1992, when the Treaty on
the European Union was signed in Maastricht and which became effective
in November 1993. The European Union is based on the principles of
freedom, democracy and the respect for human rights. Its elementary goal
is to support sustainable and balanced economic and social progress,
especially through the establishment of a zone free of internal borders
through the strengthening of economic and social cohesion and through
the introduction of an economic and monetary union with a single
currency. On May 1st 2004, the largest expansion of the European Union in its
history took place and the 15 member countries were joined by ten new
ones : Cyprus, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Lithuania, Latvia, Hungary,
Malta, Poland, Slovakia and Slovenia A gate with a circle of twelve
stars, representing open access to the EU, is located in the middle of
the coin. The state shield is located near the bottom edge. The stylized
initials of Patrik Kovacovky, the designer of the coin, are placed to
its right and the mark of the mint Bizuterie Ceska Mincovna is on the
left. The year of issue, 2004, is above the gate. The name of the state
SLOVENSKA REPUBLIKA is inscribed around the edge. A gate with a
silhouette of the map of the Slovak republic, symbolizing the access of
Slovakia to the EU, is depicted in the middle of the coin. The date of
access : May 1, 2004 - is located above the gate, the nominal value
forms two lines under the map. The words VSTUP SLOVENSKA DO EUROPSKEJ
UNIE (The Accession of Slovakia to the European Union) are inscribed
around the edge of the coin. Each proof coin is encapsulated and is
presented in a hard-covered display case. Accompanying the coin is a
certificate of authenticity showing all of the coin's technical

2003 - 150th Ann. Jezef Skultety - Proof
Jozef Skultety
(25 November 1853 - 19 January 1948) - literary critic and historian,
writer, linguist, editor, translator and publicist, lifelong
administrator of the Matica Slovenska cultural association and professor
- one of the leading personalities of the Slovak national movement, an
enthusiastic campaigner for Slovak national life and culture. He began
with the publication of short stories; though, the more important are
his literary critical and literary historical works. In the magazines
"Slovenske pohlady" and "Narodne noviny" he
presented and critically judged works of contemporary and older Slovak
writers as well as Slav and other world literature. He devoted himself
also to historic works. He was engaged in linguistics, and concentrated
on Slovak grammar and linguistic norm. He undertook a study trip to
Russia, established ties of friendship with outstanding Russian, Serbian,
Polish and Swedish personalities, who paid him return visits. In his
work, he had a direct influence on developments in political, cultural,
literary and scientific life in Slovakia. The second building of Matica
Slovenska in Martin, for many years the location of Jozef Skultety´s
activities, is depicted in the center of the obverse of the coin. Above
the building is the state shield, below the building is the name of the
state Slovenska republika and the year of issue 2003 is on the lower
margin. The reverse of the coin bears the portrait of Jozef Skultety,
with the name Jozef Skultety and the years of his birth and death below.
The face value, 200 Sk, is placed on the right of portrait. The initials
of the designer of the coin Miroslav Ronai MR and the mark of the
Kremnica Mint are placed on the left of the lower part of the portrait.
Each proof coin is encapsulated and is presented in a hard-covered
